Once again, at 1:30 I drink #3 and feel hungry and pissed off. and juice #2 I am starting to question everything in life and seriously considering quitting this thing. Despite all the claims of an energy boost I feel less strength and endurance as usual, but I get through it without feeling too awful. Especially when I wake to find that I have lost another two pounds and I am down to my pre-pregnancy weight! (However, my body looks like it has been completely ravaged beyond repair). I always feel less hungry in the morning. I am now questioning the purpose of all of this and look forward to blissful sleep. Also, my baby’s formula is starting to look appetizing so I am drinking #4.Īt 3 pm I take a few bites of cucumber (an acceptable “cheat”) and it is awesome.īy dinnertime I am suicidal watching my family eat real food. So much for mental clarity as I have no recollection as to why I just opened this browser. The last thing I want to do is mitigate all this hard work – but are you kidding me? Mostly, I’m pissed because I keep reading that after the cleanse you are supposed to only eat fruits and vegetables for a few days. I drink #3 around 1:30 and I am feeling hungry and a little pissed off. But then I come home to the smell of fried chicken and gravy which my babysitter has decided to cook for my husband’s dinner since I will not be cooking (yes, he can cook for himself, it was just a nice gesture). I feel fine during my workout and drink #2 afterward. I drank my usual morning green tea until around 8:30 when I started my first green juice of the day. I woke up feeling OK – no more hungry than usual. But fortunately it almost bed time so now the only thing left to do is sleep. And sadly I have already had #6 for breakfast. But surprisingly I really like it and it actually curbs my hunger. #4 is the Spicy Lemonade I had been dreading. Probably because this is around the time I would start making dinner. and I am starting to feel inexplicably depressed. #2 is pineapple/apple/mint and it is delicious. But after a few sips I began to strangely enjoy it. I also thought “Hey, that’s a lot of plastic!” I downed the actual #1 green juice which at first tasted strongly of celery. When my package finally arrived I was thrilled. It was delicious – like a milkshake! And no wonder – it was supposed to be the last drink of the day! Oops – looks like we are starting with dessert. They didn’t have the green juice that was meant to be the first of the day, so I went with the #6 vanilla cashew milk. By noon I was getting antsy so I went to Whole Foods to purchase a single Blueprint juice. As instructed, I drank loads of herbal tea and, as not instructed, I ate an apple. I didn’t quit coffee but did finish the day with a nice salad and my a homemade banana whip (bananas + almond milk + vitamix = ice cream).Īs luck would have it, snow delayed the morning arrival of my juices. I was told to prepare for the cleanse by eating extra clean the day before. No matter! It’s only three days so what do I have to lose besides half my intestinal tract? After all, a billion dollar business can’t be wrong, right? Oh, wait, so were thighmasters. So I decided to give Blueprint Cleanse a whirl. But as a person who eats clean 90% of the time, I have to believe that if a juice cleanse could jump start a couple pounds of nagging baby weight for anyone, it’s me. As soon as one finishes and eats a hamburger they immediately gain back whatever water weight they have dropped. It was not what one would call a healthful experience.Īnd I have always been skeptical about juice cleanses. I have never participated in any kind of “cleanse” or fast, save for one Yom Kippur in college when I fasted for the better part of a day and broke it with a vile D.P. Not only were Seger’s old fans there to greet him, they brought their kids to the party, and that multi-generational fanbase turned out for his 2018-19 farewell tour, which capped more than half a century of gut-level rocking. The Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band 'Night Moves' album playlist features the entire 1976 Night Moves album, including the classic rock hit singles 'Night. Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band Night Moves Music Cassette Tape Capitol 1976 English 1976 Bob Seger, Punch Andrews 1970s Bass Guitar, Drums, Electric. The album was released by Capitol Records on October 22, 1976. Never one for the fame game, he took a decade off starting in the mid-'90s, but roared back with 2006's Face the Promise. Night Moves is the ninth studio album by American rock singer-songwriter Bob Seger, and his first studio album to credit the Silver Bullet Band. The wider world was primed for his next studio record, and 1976’s Night Moves made Seger even bigger while spotlighting his reflective side on tunes like the bittersweet blockbuster of a title track. The System's lone hit-1968's "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man"-notwithstanding, he remained a regional phenomenon through the mid-'70s, until he and his Silver Bullet Band made their journeyman status pay off big-time with Live Bullet, the concert album that shared his sweaty, soulful rock 'n' roll blowout with millions. Born in Detroit in 1945, Seger started as a scrappy garage rocker, pumping out a raw, revved-up Motor City blend of rock and soul in other people's bands before finally stepping out to front The Last Heard in '66 and The Bob Seger System a couple years later. He'd recoil from anybody who called him "royalty" to his face, though-his rep is built on being the rock 'n' roll ambassador of the working class, with songs that capture their joys, despairs, passions, and pride. LOS ANGELES, CA Capitol Records recording artist Bob Seger’s classic album, Night Moves, makes its debut on 180-gram vinyl on June 16, 2015. Bob Seger is the godfather of heartland rock, but it took years of hard slogging before he finally busted through to the Multi-Platinum, stadium-filling status that made him rock royalty. It is simply one of the best albums of the year. You’re either born to do this or you’re not." The rest of the panel also gave the tot rave reviews. Elias is a 7-year-old piano prodigy, but what he brought when he met Ellen was a lot more than just musical skill. If I had to check it though, this would be the bag to do it with. I really don’t like the idea that the people with the ability to open the TSA locks though, have been filmed systematically rifling through peoples’ bags in the past though, so I’d still be worried until I got my gear back in one piece. I think of all my camera bags, this is probably the only one that I feel I could check if I really had to. There’s also a business card holder on the top of the bag, which you can use to tell your bag from others on an airport conveyer should you have to check your bag. I also usually loop the straps of my bag around my leg even if I’m going to grab forty winks in an airport lounge, but with this cable you could literally strap the bag to the frame of a metal bench or chair that you often see in airports. Obviously this is not going to totally prevent someone from stealing your bag if you leave it in public all day, but the thick rear cable is built into the framework of the bag, so coupled with engaging the zip combination lock would certainly make this a tough target for something with a mind to walk away with you gear. Steel Cable and Lock Built into the Frame! There’s a third combination lock in a panel behind the shoulder straps in a compartment in the back of the bag, with a very thick and reasonably long steel cable that you can use to secure the bag to a metal pole or other immovable object, if you really have to leave your bag somewhere, like at the side of a conference room as you shoot an event. You can use this to attach to a second bag, or any valuables you might have in the outer pockets. The bag incorporates a TSA approved combination lock, that you clip the two main compartment zips into, and there’s a steel wire attached to the inside of the front top pocket that is also fitted with a combination lock. It’s not called Airport Security for nothing. Very nice workmanship all round! Security Features Even just the way it is riveted on though, with a rubberized frame around the plaque seems to add to the overall feeling of quality of the bag. There’s also a metal plaque on the back with a security code to help locate the bag if it gets lost, which may or may not be of help if the bag is stolen, but if it is genuinely lost, this should help. The materials, the zips, the TSA approved combination locks and roller wheels themselves, everything is top quality and feels great to the touch. The build quality of the camera bag itself confirmed this of course - it’s incredibly well built. I could tell even as I opened the box that ThinkTank Photo are proud of their products. When the Airport Security V2.0 bag arrived, I was initially impressed even by the packaging. It feels more like a long fin than a summit, a few feet wide in parts. The top of Cowboy Mountain, about 75 miles east of Seattle, rises to 5,853 feet - about half the height of the tallest Cascades, but higher than its nearest neighbors, enough to provide 360-degree views. In winter, they are smothered in some of North America’s deepest snowpack. In summer, the gray peaks are sprinkled with glaciers. The Cascades are among the craggiest of American mountain ranges, roughly cut, as if carved with a chain saw. Now, she was suddenly struck by the silence. She had not noticed the noise as she hurtled down the mountain. She grew claustrophobic.īreathe easy, she told herself. When she clawed at her chest and neck, the crumbs maddeningly slid back onto her face. Using her hands like windshield wipers, she tried to flick snow away from her mouth. As if newly plowed, it rose in rugged contrast to the surrounding fields of undisturbed snow, 20 feet tall in spots. It was now a jagged, virtually impenetrable pile of ice, longer than a football field and nearly as wide. The avalanche spread and stopped, locking everything it carried into an icy cocoon. Without it, the first breaths could create a suffocating ice mask. She knew that if victims ended up buried under the snow, cupped hands in front of the face could provide a small pocket of air for the mouth and nose. She knew from avalanche safety courses that outstretched hands might puncture the ice surface and alert rescuers. Saugstad felt the snow slow and tried to keep her hands in front of her. Saugstad’s pinwheeling body would freeze into whatever position it was in the moment the snow stopped.Īfter about a minute, the creek bed vomited the debris into a gently sloped meadow. The laws of physics and chemistry transform a meadow of fine powder into a wreckage of icy chunks. But when it stops, it instantly freezes solid. Moving, roiling snow turns into something closer to liquid, thick like lava. Seconds later, tumbling uncontrollably inside a ribbon of speeding snow, she was sure this was how she was going to die. She caromed off things she never saw, tumbling through a cluttered canyon like a steel marble falling through pins in a pachinko machine.Īt first she thought she would be embarrassed that she had deployed her air bag, that the other expert skiers she was with, more than a dozen of them, would have a good laugh at her panicked overreaction. It was not unlike being cartwheeled in a relentlessly crashing wave. She had no control of her body as she tumbled downhill. She was knocked down before she knew if the canister of compressed air inflated winged pillows behind her head. About to be overtaken, she pulled a cord near her chest. The energy raised the temperature of the snow a couple of degrees, and the friction carved striations high in the icy sides of the canyon walls.Įlyse Saugstad, a professional skier, wore a backpack equipped with an air bag, a relatively new and expensive part of the arsenal that backcountry users increasingly carry to ease their minds and increase survival odds in case of an avalanche. It accelerated as the slope steepened and the weight of the slide pushed from behind. It moved in surges, like a roller coaster on a series of drops and high-banked turns. The slope of the terrain, shaped like a funnel, squeezed the growing swell of churning snow into a steep, twisting gorge. Somewhere inside, it also carried people. Others it captured and added to its violent load. The avalanche, in Washington’s Cascades in February, slid past some trees and rocks, like ocean swells around a ship’s prow. Moving about 7o miles per hour, it crashed through the sturdy old-growth trees, snapping their limbs and shredding bark from their trunks. Within seconds, the avalanche was the size of more than a thousand cars barreling down the mountain and weighed millions of pounds. Snow shattered and spilled down the slope. Somewhere above, a pristine meadow cracked in the shape of a lightning bolt, slicing a slab nearly 200 feet across and 3 feet deep. The very thing the 16 skiers and snowboarders had sought - fresh, soft snow - instantly became the enemy. The snow burst through the trees with no warning but a last-second whoosh of sound, a two-story wall of white and Chris Rudolph’s piercing cry: “Avalanche!
